After Hours Care Q&A

What is after-hours care?

After-hours care refers to medical appointments that occur outside of KID-DOC Pediatrics' normal office hours. This could be for minor injuries, accidents, or simply an appointment you cannot make during the day.  This includes Monday and Wednesday evenings 5 pm - 7 pm

The caring team knows that life happens and parents need a hand outside of regular business hours at times, thus, we are happy to provide these hours made with appointments only.  You still have the ability to do Telehealth visits and/or make appointments during the day, if needed.

If your child wakes up with a sore throat, severe stomach ache, or a high fever, make an after-hours care appointment in case the day is full. Otherwise, our priority is to get you in as soon as possible during the day. Taking quick action can lower the risk of uncomfortable side effects and ensure your son or daughter remains healthy.

What conditions does after-hours care treat?

After-hours care at KID-DOC Pediatrics covers a wide range of illnesses and common childhood injuries, including:

  • Allergies and asthma
  • Cuts and burns
  • Bug bites
  • Colds
  • The flu
  • Ear infections
  • Pink eye
  • Sinus infections
  • Abdominal pain
  • Wheezing or shortness of breath
  • Nausea and diarrhea
  • Rashes

The KID-DOC Pediatrics providers also offer after-hours care appointments to treat sports-related injuries like sprains and strains.  Please, understand that we do not have onsight X-ray facilities, therefore, Just call the office to be guided for an appointment or to the Urgent care/ER as needed.

When should I make an after-hours care appointment?

Many childhood injuries and illnesses respond to conservative, at-home treatment measures including rest, drinking plenty of fluids, and taking over-the-counter pain medications. However, if your son or daughter’s symptoms persist or get worse over a few hours, don’t wait to make an appointment at KID-DOC Pediatrics.

Without proper treatment, high fevers, severe allergic reactions, or intense abdominal pain can lead to serious complications, including loss of consciousness or the need for hospitalization.

When it comes to your child, it’s always better to be safe. Call KID-DOC Pediatrics, explain your child’s symptoms, and the caring staff will provide you with tips to manage pain or other uncomfortable side-effects on your way to the office or guide you to go to the nearest Urgent Care or ER.

The caring KID-DOC Pediatrics team will make every effort to get you in as soon as possible if needed.
